

The disappearance, Shirley Almand said, according to a story in the Courier-Post’s morning edition, was “totally out of character for her son, and he always stayed close to home.” More than 100 police, firefighters and volunteers began a wider search, with bloodhounds brought in to assist the search was called off at around 3:30 a.m., according to reports at the time, and resumed the following morning.
